A long time ago we learned to accept things. That's my mama, that's my papa. That's my story. That's my religion. That's my politics. That's my station in life. I'm rich. I'm poor. I'm healthy. I'm not healthy. People like me. People don't like me. I can. I can't. I know how. I don't know how.
We didn't even think about it. We assumed it as true. We accepted it, as is. It's just the way our life is. It's just the way I am.
Most people make an even more potent assumption: They assume they have to listen to that voice in their head. Without thinking to question it, whatever that voice says, we usually act. We usually follow its orders.
Who said we have to listen to that voice? Who said we have to do what that voice tells us to do?
Recently, the pilot of the plane that landed in the Hudson River, said in an interview, that in the days after the crash he was tortured with thoughts about how he could have done more and better. That's the man who saved 155 lives because he did his job with perfection. Yet, his mind tortured him.
That's what our mind does to us. It's never satisfied. Too much, too little, too big, too small, and on and on 24/7, it's rattling about our inadequacies. It tells us to look for what's wrong, not what's right. It tells us to look for what we don't have, rather than the abundance we do have. At this very moment, your mind may be saying, you don't have abundance. Look for what's right. Look for what you have.
Your mind has you looking for what is missing, rather than what you have. Your mind has you focusing constantly on what's wrong, rather than what's right.
Stop listening to that mind of yours. Your mind creates negativity. It creates negative pictures and stories. They aren't real. But we think they're real, because we're in the habit of listening to our mind. We have the habit of believing it. We have the habit of acting on what our mind is saying---or if it's frightening us, we have the habit of not taking action.
Stop listening to all the negativity.
Say. How does that information help me? How does that information make me more positive? How does that information make me more happy?
Be positive in spite of the mind noise in your head and the other mind noise in your life. Being positive begins by letting go of the negative. It begins by refusing to listen to your mind ---or other minds--- trying to drag you down and take others with you.
Stop listening to your mind. Watch it. Love it. But you don't have to listen to it, and you definitely don't have to do what it says.
